Padma Shri Awarded Indian environmentalist

Sundaram Verma is an Indian environmentalist. In 2020, he received the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian honour in India, for creating the farming method known as "dryland agroforestry," which was created to support attempts to plant trees in arid areas of the country.Verma lives in the Rajasthani village of Danta, which is near Sikar. Following his graduation in 1972, Sunda Ram Verma made the decision to become a farmer. Sunda Ram Verma studied dryland farming at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi under Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK). After ten years of labour, Verma created a farming method for desert areas in which one litre of water is sufficient to establish any sort of tree. Verma has planted more than 50,000 trees so far.
