Jagdish Prasad Pareek, a 72-year-old farmer from Ajitgarh, Sikar district, Rajasthan, was awarded the Padma Shri by President Ram Nath Kovind for his innovative contributions to agriculture. Known as the "Cabbage Man," Pareek has been practicing organic farming since 1970 and has developed numerous new varieties of vegetables. His record-breaking produce includes a 25.25 kg cabbage, an 86 kg pumpkin, and unusually long gourds and eggplants. He has also developed his own cabbage seed. Pareek has received several accolades, including the Shruti Samman (2000) and the First National Grass Root Innovation Award (2001), and has been featured in the Limca Book of Records. He is recognized as an agricultural scientist for his pioneering work.
