Gagan Mishra, an SNA Yuva Awardee and TIE-NSD trained theatre expert, is a National Theatre Fellow and Scholar under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. A distinguished figure in Indian theatre, he has made remarkable contributions as a technical director, light designer, educator, and jury member.
He has served as the Technical Director for prestigious events, including the National Senior Award Ceremony (2018) and Young Award Ceremony (2023) of the Sangeet Natak Akademi, as well as the International Navras Festival at Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur (2016). His expertise in light design is showcased in acclaimed events like the Theatre Olympics 2018 (Rustom Sohrab play) and the Commonwealth Games 2010. Recognized with the Ustad Bismillah Khan Award by the Central Sangeet Natak Akademi in 2016, Gagan has also received several state awards for his work in Theatre-in-Education (TIE).
Gagan's educational contributions include designing the Theatre-in-Education syllabus for schools (2006) and serving on the jury for NCERT's Joy of Theatre book. His association with Bharat Rang Mahotsav (NSD), the British Council as a Children's Theatre Instructor, and numerous state and national initiatives underline his dedication to fostering theatrical arts and education.
His exceptional achievements have been recognized by the Rajasthan Sangeet Natak Akademi, Nehru Science Centre, and Cine Artists Association, making him a trailblazer in the development of Theatre-in-Education in India.
