Dharmendra Upadhyay, an emerging writer-director in Rajasthani cinema, whose journey to filmmaking began in the world of journalism. As a deputy editor at Rajasthan Patrika Group, he developed a keen interest in documentary filmmaking, crafting five documentaries on issues related to Rajasthan. Over the past few years, Dharmendra has fully dedicated himself to cinema, creating an impressive portfolio of 10 Hindi-Rajasthani short films and two feature films in Rajasthani. But that's not all – Dharmendra is also an accomplished author with three published books to his name: Jazbaat Ki Dhoop (a collection of songs and ghazals), Ateet Ki Awaaz (a collection of stories), and Aamir Khan: Hindi Cinema Ke Sevak, a deep dive into the cinematic journey of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan. As a film critic, Dharmendra contributed to the official website of the Screen Writers Association Mumbai for two years. His work in short films has been widely recognized, with notable award-winning titles such as Pani Re Pani, Bandmaster, Parinaam, Aashao Ke Aangan Mein, Chambal in Bollywood, and Birthday. His first Rajasthani feature film, Sahasi (2023), was made for the OTT platform Stage, and his upcoming film Mhari Beendani is already generating buzz ahead of its release. With his passion for storytelling and his dedication to showcasing Rajasthani culture on the big screen, Dharmendra Upadhyay is undoubtedly a rising star in the world of Indian cinema!
